Hi, I'm Daveyva, the dreamer and founder of Blooming Arrow Events.
My story is a blend of two cultures. My parents are from Bolivia, where I inherited vibrant celebrations, warm hospitality, and bringing people together. I was born in England and spent my early childhood there before my mom and I moved to the United States when I was 11. Growing up with both Latin and British/American influences gave me a deep appreciation for different traditions, music, and the many ways people connect.
As an only child, friendships became family. Those lifelong connections have shaped who I am, and I'm incredibly grateful that many of my closest friends have been by my side, through every season of life. Over the years, I've also learned that it's healthy to surround yourself with friends who share different interests and bring out different parts of who you are. Some are my antique and thrift-shopping buddies, some love creating and crafting, others are always up for volunteering in our community, and then there are my friends who know every word to an '80s or '90s dance song. Every friendship adds something unique, and I truly believe life is richer when we create space for all of them.
Today, I call Newington, Northern Virginia, home. My husband and I have raised our three boys in the beautiful Newington Forest community. where winding trails and towering trees make it feel like we're living in our own enchanted forest. This fall marks a new chapter for our family as we become empty nesters, with our youngest son heading off to James Madison University. Our home is still happily ruled by our two Chihuahuas, Chloe and Lucy.
When I'm not hosting Bloom events, you'll usually find me volunteering at community gatherings, antiquing and thrifting with friends, or enjoying my favorite place to be—home. My husband has his Man Cave, and I have my beloved cozy, Lady Lounge. This space is where most of my creative planning and crafting happens, and favorite spot to curl up with the "girls" Chloe and Lucy while watching TV and popping in DVDs in the player to watch my sappy movies.
When summer arrives, my creative planning moves outdoors to our deck beneath a big umbrella with the girls by my side. Laptop open, a small fan plugged in with my retro style Bluetooth/radio. I still do it the old-school way—turning the dial to discover whatever music station comes in. Ironically, the stations I once thought were "old folks' elevator music" from the 70's has become the soundtracks from my "good old days". Before long, those familiar songs from the '80s and '90s fill the air. If you are in your 40's 50's you may understand what I mean.
Music has always had a way of bringing people together, and it's one of the reasons Blooming Arrow has grown beyond creative workshops. Alongside our cozy, pop-up The Bloom Room experiences, you'll also find The Dayclubbers—our afternoon dance socials for ladies 30+ who still love the energy, and the joy of dancing to some good retro music, but prefer a welcoming daytime safe atmosphere where they can reconnect, laugh, let loose, and simply have fun.
Whether we're connecting with Bloom themed gatherings or dancing to the songs that make us smile, my hope is always the same—to create welcoming spaces where people feel inspired, connected, and free to be themselves.
